			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A client wrote, &#8220;Help me! I thought I was finally getting a handle on my weight issue but the sugar is killing me. I had an awful day. I won&#8217;t even tell you what I ate today because it is just so unbelievable. All I will say is that 90% of my food today consisted of sugar! I really, really need some help getting past these cravings. I am no doubt a sugar addict. If I could get past this there is no doubt that I will reach my goal.&#8221;</p>
<p>If you see a little of yourself in this message, you&#8217;re not alone. Many describe themselves as sugar addicts. They believe if it were only for that one thing, then they could reach their weight loss goals. If you believe only one thing stands in your way of losing weight, consider this: What if that one thing (an  addiction to sugar for instance) were gone? Do you really believe, &#8220;If I could get past this, there is no doubt that I will reach my goal,&#8221; or is it an easy excuse to stay stuck?</p>
<p><strong>If I told you I could show you a way to stop craving sugar, would you want me to show you how?</strong></p>
<p>Think about that for a moment. Close your eyes and really think it through. You&#8217;ve said if only you didn&#8217;t crave sugar, then you could lose weight, but is that really true for you? Ask yourself these questions:</p>
<p>Would you eat differently, and if so how?</p>
<p>Would you act differently, and if so how?</p>
<p>What else would change, and what would stay the same?</p>
<p>What would you lose?</p>
<p>What would you gain?</p>
<p>Until you know what you want, know you can achieve it, and know what else will change (i.e. how your life may be different), you can&#8217;t discover any obstacles that first must be considered. For instance, you may want to stop eating anything after 7 PM yet your husband doesn&#8217;t come home from work until 8 and he wants you to join him for dinner. That&#8217;s an obstacle.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve got a habit of watching your favorite TV show with a bowl of ice cream, then breaking that habit is another obstacle.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t work out ways to overcome your obstacles perhaps through discussion and compromise with your husband, or habit breaking exercises for your ice cream habit, there&#8217;s bound to be a problem. Just saying you&#8217;re not going to do something any mroe rarely works. Instead determine what might stand in the way of achieving your goals, find a way around them, and you&#8217;re much more likely to actually achieve those goals once and for all.</p>
<p>The statement, &#8220;if this one thing were handled, then everything else would fall into place&#8221; is an &#8220;If Then&#8221; statement and gets people into trouble. They want a fairy godmother to make it all better. A strong belief that one single thing such as, &#8220;eating sugar is my problem,&#8221; sets you up to fail, especially if you really like eating sugary foods.</p>
<p>Getting a handle on your cravings is not an all-or-nothing proposition. You must leave room for occasional deviations. It&#8217;s not the occasional side trip that causes weight trouble, it&#8217;s the road we usually travel.</p>
<p>In NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) a good starting point is the exercise called Establishing a Well Formed Outcome. &#8220;Well formed&#8221; means it meets all criteria of a well thought-out end result.</p>
<p><strong>NLP: How to Create a Well Formed Outcome &amp; Get What You Want</strong></p>
<p>Here are the steps to creating a well formed outcome:</p>
<p>1) State what you want (not what you do not want). &#8220;I want to weigh 135 pounds.&#8221;</p>
<p>2) Determine whether you can achieve it (do you believe it is possible?).</p>
<p>3) What resources do you have and what do you need (time, money, gear, clothes, equipment, coaching, whatever).</p>
<p>4) Check whether anyone else is involved and any potential obstacles that may come up regarding others. Think of everyone involved in your day-to-day life.</p>
<p>5) Picture yourself &#8220;as if&#8221; you&#8217;ve obtained what you say you want and see if that picture fits. Do you like what you see?</p>
<p>6) Put together a plan of action for the achievement of your outcome.</p>
<p>While it may seem like a lot of effort simply to decide what you really want, going through these steps at the beginning helps you find potential obstacles which previously stopped you from moving forward. For example, if you decide you want to join a gym and start exercising every day but you&#8217;ve forgotten you don&#8217;t even own a car and just lost your job, that exercise plan might not work out right now. If you did join a gym, you&#8217;d end up not going and then you&#8217;d think you&#8217;d failed, yet it was the plan that failed, not you. You didn&#8217;t think it through.</p>
<p>A better plan in this instance may be doing exercises at home, or within walking distance (or simply walking for exercise). Later, when you do have transportation, you can rethink the plan and perhaps join a gym then. There are always options.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s better to look at what you want from every angle, then put together a plan you know can and will work. Then when you know what you want, you&#8217;ll also know you can make it happen and begin by taking that first step toward making it a reality.</p>

<p>There are two types of vitamins according to whether they are soluble in water or fat. Vitamin A (Retinol) is a fat soluble vitamin and this is not excreted from the body in the urine so excessive intake can have a negative effect on health. Vitamin A is present in animal origin foods eg. liver, milk and egg yolk. It is formed in the body from the pigment Beta-carotene which is present in certain vegetables eg. carrots, cabbage and lettuce.</p>
<p>Vitamin A has a number of roles in the body. It is necessary for normal cell division and growth. It is important for maintenance of mucous membranes of the repiratory, digestive and urinary tracts. Retinol is a pale yellow solid which dissolves easily in oil and fat and it is essential for good eye sight, particularly vision in dim light as well as having an important role in normal development of the embryo. It can be produced synthetically and therefore used to enrich margarines.</p>
<p>The best source of retinal is liver and a small amount 3g meets the body’s daily requirements. 700mcg per day is a sufficient amount per adult which can also be derived from the beta carotene foods eg. 2oz raw carrots.</p>

<li>Professional athletes in their attempts to over-perform use anabolic steroids. <p>You can have a perfect forehead, chin, smile, and even a perfect pair of dimples but none of these will start a woman’s sexual motor. You can work out at the gym all week long, week after week and look like Mr. Atlas, but you aren’t going to start a woman’s sexual motor with your muscles.</p>
<p>Granted, you might get her attention for a brief moment – just like any other kind of abnormality she might notice would get her attention – but your looks won’t turn her sexual motor on. Why? Once a woman decides to enter into a relationship, looks no longer matter to her – if they ever mattered to her at all.</p>
<p>Now, I’m not dismissing the necessity for neatness, trimness, and cleanliness. These are things a woman expects of a man. But, they are not what start her sexual motor.</p>
<p>It’s Not In What You Have</p>
<p>You can wave big wads of cash around. You can wear Armani suits. You can wear a Rolex. You can drive a super expensive car. You can flaunt any other material possessions in front of a woman and you simply aren’t going to turn her on. (As obvious as this may seem, there are men worldwide trying to capture a woman’s attention by means of their possessions.)</p>
<p>The danger with this approach is that you may trigger her “greed factor” such that she is attracted to you in terms of what she can “get” from you. But, because she’s not being true to herself, sex will be something she despises. This phenomenon can easily be seen in “marriages” where an attractive young woman is married to an old and wealthy man. Both the man and the woman know that the marriage is based on purely selfish motives and nobody’s sexual motor has ever been started based on selfishness.</p>
<p>It’s Not Your Social Status</p>
<p>Many men mistakenly believe that if they were in a position of prominence, or if they were a celebrity, or if they held some kind of high-profile social rank, that they would then be able to start a woman’s sexual motor.</p>
<p>And in fact, there are cases where a woman is attracted to a high social status man simply for the attention and prestige that being affiliated with such a man will bring to her.</p>
<p>But once again, this kind of a relationship is founded on shallow and hollow premises. And, as it has been proven again and again, the very thing the woman was attracted to will soon become the thing she despises the most. And when a woman despises, her sexual motor is definitely turned off.</p>
<p>The number of women throughout history who have left high-profile men in favor of a “no-name” man is incalculable. In fact, the tabloid magazines show us this phenomenon on a regular basis – where some starlet has dumped the celebrity she has been dating and is now dating some unknown man who is just short of being down-right ugly. Why would women do this? Because the “no-name” guy clearly knows how to start her sexual motor while the prominent guy did not.</p>

<p>My next appointment was the following week for more root canal and the week after that also.  Not only that my newly filled tooth was now even more painful than before so more work on my filling ensued (as well as more root canal).  To cut a long story short I then chose to have a crown in place of a filling that may, or not, have lasted very long.</p>
<p>By now I was helping myself to their filtered coffee and newspaper on arrival.</p>
<p>So today, as I again sat in the dental chair I was prepared.  I made sure I was sufficiently relaxed, centred and in the present moment before I turned up.</p>
<p>What did I do?  I meditated before my appointment and then meditated through my appointment!</p>
<p>As the shrill piercing sound of the drill reverberated through my head and my face sprayed with water, I simply drifted away to somewhere else – somewhere peaceful.  The dentist and the assistant continually asked me if I was okay – I’d slowly nod then zone out again, drifting away and closing the door to the sounds and movements of where my physical body was.</p>
<p>And then it was all over!</p>
<p>The next time you visit your dentist, it really pays to zone out during your procedure (if possible even before you get there) &#8211; especially if you’re nervous about any dental procedure at all like I am.</p>
<p>7 Steps to help you Zone out</p>
<p>1.  	Get a meditation session in before you arrive for your appointment.  If you’re not sure how to meditate, do some slow, deep breathing exercises.  I generally take around 4 to 5 slow deep breaths, focusing on the outward breath.</p>
<p>2.	Be in the present moment.  This is when you’re not thinking anything about the future – even 3 minutes into the future!  Nor are you thinking about the past – not even 3 minutes ago.  The present moment is now whilst you’re sitting in the dental chair, staring at the ceiling becoming aware of and concentrating on the rhythm of your breathing.</p>
<p>3.	Once the procedure starts close your eyes and take your mind within.  Focus straight ahead – wherever you perceive straight ahead to be once you have your eyes closed – and think of nothing – just blank – the void – staring at the colours and patterns you can see as you sit in the chair with your eyes closed.</p>
<p>4.	If you’re about to receive an injection – as the needle goes in, breathe into that area and continue to concentrate fully on your slow breathing until the injection is over.</p>
<p>5.	Once that’s over, resume staring into the blank void that is the inside of your eyelids!</p>
<p>6.	If you find it challenging to think nothing, focus on a visual image that makes you feel really, really good about yourself then have a look around and see where you are.</p>
<p>7.	Whenever you sense you’re starting to again focus on the drilling or whatever else is happening in your mouth, breathe in slowly and deeply focusing on the rhythm of your breathing and allow every single muscle you become aware of, to deflate and relax.</p>
<p>Meditation is a great ‘self help’ tool and when applied during a visit to your dentist – it makes the experience if not enjoyable, at least bearable!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>During the months of November to February, the days start getting shorter and colder, and the nights longer and darker.  Climate changes seem to affect many people and they just can&#8217;t understand why they tend to feel gloomy and miserable.  This mood disorder is called winter depression, or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).<br />
According to Norman E. Rosenthal, the doctor who coined the term SAD in 1984, winter depression has a sound medical basis that involves changes in the body&#8217;s mood centers brought on by shorter daylight hours and a lack of sunlight.  Most depressive illness sufferers experience a sense of utter isolation and loneliness. But the fact that many people go through the same grumpiness during this time of the year provides a sense of comfort and assurance that they are not alone.  As the clichй goes “misery loves company.”<br />
Based on statistics of SAD Association, 500,000 people in the United Kingdom experience some form of winter depression, while doctors have estimated that 20% of the population, or almost 2 million people, are affected in Sweden by this condition.<br />
One of the most effective and clinically proven treatment for SAD is “light therapy”, which has been shown to benefit some 80-85 percent of SAD cases.  Simple as it may sound, the treatment actually involves more than just turning on a light and sitting beside it while twiddling your thumbs as you wait for that renewed energy to “power up” your whole well-being.<br />
The average domestic or office light emits a paltry 200-500 lux (a lux is a unit of illuminance,) whereas a minimum of 2,500 lux is required to alleviate the symptoms of SAD.  In comparison, a clear summer&#8217;s day can reach an intensity of 100,000 lux.<br />
Based on these specs, a number of specially designed light boxes have been invented that emit precisely the right amount of illumination. Symptoms of SAD gradually subside by sitting in front of one for about 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the severity of the condition.<br />
Light therapy may be the best treatment for SAD as far as symptoms are concerned. However, addressing the root causes of the condition may involve both anti-depressant drugs and psychotherapy treatments especially for those with severe symptoms.</p>
<p>Studies have shown that the incidence of SAD increases dramatically as you go 30 degrees of latitude further north or south, as the condition is virtually unheard of in the tropical countries.  A movement or vacation trip to these countries in the equator may sound impractical but can definitely improve ones mood and well-being.<br />
Watching movies that feature warm, sunny, summery climates show demonstrable improvements in mood. Research shows that any film with clear blue cloudless skies, palm trees and an absence of snow should qualify for a movie therapy.<br />
The same mood-enhancing effect may result by simply watching outdoor sports like cricket or golf.  However, over-exposure to snooker, darts, and indoor bowling has been found to bring on a state of depressive, trance-like catatonia that, in severe cases, culminates in complete mental health breakdown.</p>
